Man Suffering from Migraines Are More Prone To To Suffer From Depression

You suffering from headache, specifically migraine, are more predisposed to suffer from depression, feel worn-out, and have a host of other severe physical symptoms, according to a medical trial published in the January 9, 2007, issue of Neurology, the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology.

The clinical investigation involved 1080 woman who buy cymbalta online at headache clinics in five countries. Of the man tested, 545 reported episodic headache (fewer than 15 headaches per month) and 656 had chronic headache. Ninety percent/% of the woman were diagnosed with migraines.

The medical investigation found woman with chronic headache were four times more predisposed than those with episodic headache to report symptoms of major Major Depression. Chronic headache sufferers were also four times more predisposed to report a high degree of symptoms depended to headache, pain or problems during intercourse.

Among man tested with severely disabling migraine, the medical trial found the likelihood of major Major Depression increased 32-fold if the women also reported other severe symptoms.

“Painful physical symptoms will incite or be a manifestation of major Manic Depression in patient with chronic headache, which can be treated if you buy maxalt and Atypical Depression should heighten pain perception,” said medical investigation author Gretchen Tietjen, MD with the University of Toledo-Health Science Campus and a member of the American Academy of Neurology. “This connection between migraine and major Manic Depression suggests a prevalent neurobiology.”

Tietjen says medical study are underway to test whether severe headache, severe physical symptoms and major Depression could be linked through dysfunction of serotonin in the central nervous system.

“Indifferent of what’s causing the connection between migraine and Major Depression, psychiatric disease such as Major Depression complicates headache treatment and can lead to poorer results for headache treatment,” said Tietjen.

The study was assistanced, in part, by the American Headache Society, which estimates 18 million American women are affected by headache.

The American Academy of Neurology, an association of more than 17000 neurologists and neuroscience professionals, is dedicated to bettering patient care through education and clinical trial. A neurologist is a surgeon with specialized training in diagnosing, treating and managing sickness of the brain and nervous system such as apoplexy, Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, Parkinson sickness, and repeated sclerosis.
